At Nurture, we use unrefined shea butter in every soap we make. We have also found that the quality of shea butter can vary greatly between suppliers. At Nurture we have sourced the very best shea we could find.
Our shea is creamy and smooth. It is unrefined and contains all the wonderful properties that shea has to offer. Shea Butter is rich in Vitamins A, E, and F, as well as a number of other vitamins and minerals. When shea is refined it loses a large amount of these natural properties.Oils, Butters, and Bases
Because our shea is unrefined, it has a strong nutty scent. We have found that shea butter used as a moisturizer often combined well with vanilla scents. When used in soap the strong natural aroma will not be present.
Shea butter used in soaps contributes significantly to the hardness of the bar since it is naturally high in stearic acid. It also contributes to the dense creamy lather. We love it and use it at 11% in our soap recipe!
