Our Turquoise Dye Mix is more green with a bit of blue, and contains certified FD&C Blue 1, FD&C Yellow 5. This product ships free to 48 states and is in powder form.
To bloom dyes add a bit of dye to water first, and add this mix to baking soda. Add this mix to your main bath bomb recipe. Our lakes and dyes are sourced and manufactured in the USA and certified by the FDA for Nurture Soap Inc.
Testing Notes: ½ TBSP water to (2) .15 cc level scoops dye, mixed (aka blooming the dye); added to 2 cups baking soda & baked at 225°F on cookie sheet for approx. 30 mins. Further research indicates these dyes are heat, light (UV) and pH sensitive (some more so than others) – best to air dry. Testing shows baking the pre-colored baking soda mutes or pastels the color in the baking soda and can completely deactivate the dye re water color saturation. Colored water using 2 TBSP water to ¼ tsp pre-colored baking soda. Wanting to solidify the theory on baking vs air drying I made another batch same measurements used previously (not completely dry yet) to show the difference between baked and air dried in both pre-colored BS and water saturation.
