Our Nature Identical micas are based on lab-made fluorphlogopite. Fluorphlogopite is made to be nature-identical to naturally mined mica. While naturally mined mica has a yellow tint to it, lab created micas are clear like glass and are formulated to be much more vibrant and vivid than natural mica powders.
Nature Identical micas are also an ideal choice when labor in mines is a concern. Nurture Soap is dedicated to selling 100% ethically sourced products.
Our Nature Identical Mica range were formerly called Crystal Micas.

Please check the individual color description for more details including INCI and safety use.
Recommended use rate in cold and hot process soap is 1 tsp. per pound of oils. For melt and pour, the recommended use rate is .5 tsp. per pound of base.
Please note: We cannot recommend our green and blue crystal micas for bath bombs, since the color additives contained in them (chromium oxide green and ultramarine blue) are not approved by the FDA for use on lips or other mucous membranes. Although bath products have historically been considered externally applied cosmetics, bath bombs are different because the product is put in the bath and there is prolonged exposure to mucous membranes. We have personally clarified this information with the Director of the Color Certification Branch of the FDA. Have questions? Contact Us.
