Flame Tree fragrance oil is an exotic blend of lemongrass, sandalwood, lemon tree, fire tree, myrtle, bergamot, ginger and orange blossom. It is almost sweet smelling with a spicy kick. Compare to Lush® brand Fire Tree™
Tested 6/14/18 by Carrie T. (owner) in a recipe of 33% lye solution with 5% superfat at 70 degrees. Recipe is 35% olive, 35% organic and sustainable palm, 20% coconut, and 10% castor. Slight acceleration. Instant orange discoloration. This is one of my favorite fragrances, and when testing in soap I am reminded why. It deep and mysterious, earthy, resinous and sexy! The orange color compliments the notes and name of this fragrance.

This is the worse fragrance I have ever smelled it made me nauseous all day long i made beautiful soap cupcakes and had to get my husband to do something with them because i couldn't handle the smell i honestly imagine a dead body would smell better so now i have an oz left that i dont want to throw away but I dont want to use it's the only fragrance I have gotten that I dont like on a positive if you like the scent you dont need to use much and the scent is strong
I lived in the country for a long time and have smelled lots of dead bodies (animals). I promise you Flame Tree does not smell as bad as that!
On a serious note, smell is different to everyone. If a smell makes you nauseous out of bottle it is best not to use it in soap. Lots of people love this scent and maybe you could destash/swap with someone that loves it.
Nice with a Weird Note
I don't know if it's the ginger or my nose, but while it, for the most part, is a spicy-sweet woodsy scent, there's this funky note that invades that almost reminds me of my Opa when he'd come home, have a beer and still smell like his shop. Sharp, bitter and... well, funky. It's a nice scent though and I know better than to judge OOB so I look forward to trying it in oil for a fragrance or in my soy wax melts. :)
Very unique! Blossoms in application!
I have to be honest and admit, out of all the exceptional FO's I've purchased from NS, this was the only one I wasn't too sure about initially- took me awhile to fully appreciate its complexity. OOB, it was reminiscent to Lush's "25:43" scent to me, but with a bitter note (from the ginger, I believe). I decided it wasn't for me, and tucked it away for awhile. I know better than to judge a FO straight from the bottle though, so went ahead & made a small test batch with it. It did accelerate moderately in my recipe, but because I don't color or do intricate designs with my test batches, it was very manageable. The scent in application however, really blossoms! I noticed that notes that were initially too harsh, sharp & bitter to my nose rounded & smoothed out beautifully in application! Lemongrass & rich woodsy tones became more pronounced in a unique & well-balanced way! As the bars cured, I found myself enjoying the scent more & more! My soaps are about 5wks cured now, and the scent is wonderfully fragrant without being harsh or intrusive (which I initially feared they'd be from my first impressions OOB). I was giving my youngest a bath this evening, and without paying much attention, grabbed one of the soaps off my curing rack. As I was sudsing my kiddo up, I kept thinking, "Wow! What is this one?! It smells really nice!". Turned out being one of the bars made with this FO! So for those who worry this scent might not be for them, I urge you to give it a try in application! It's truly a one-of-a-kind aroma that blossoms in CP & continues to get better & better with cure! Might not be a scent for everyone, but those who love unique, earthy scents with rich complexity will surely enjoy it!
Smells good but a pain to work with
Smell really good but it does cause acceleration. I barely got it in the molds in time. Just make sure you are ready for it and account for it in your design. My recipe doesn't allow for a lot of wiggle room either.
