  • Use rate in cold & hot process soaps: 1 teaspoon per pound of oils.
  • Use rate in melt & pour soaps: .5 teaspoons per pound of base.

~ More or less can be added to achieve your desired color. These usage rates are recommended for no colored lather. ~

Black Pearl is our preferred black mica for clear melt and pour. Due to it's silver sheen, it can make MP really pop! For a darker, truer black in cold process soaps try Activated Charcoal or Nocturnal Mica. Activated charcoal makes a truer black than any mica we have tried, and is out go-to for achieving true black in cold process soap that does not bleed or migrate.

Black Iron Oxide is also a great choice for black in CP. Only a little needs to be used. The disadvantage to black oxide is that it can bleed in the shower, and no one wants black stuff running down their shower walls!

If using in bath bombs, add polysorbate at half your oils. For example, if your oil = 3 teaspoons, use polysorbate at 1.5 teaspoons. This will help prevent a color ring around the tub.

Black Pearl

I haven't tried this in CP soap (usually use activated charcoal) but it works great in my bath bombs. I was going for a galaxy effect and it came out perfect.

A nice alternative to charcoal

Love it! Using the black mica helps avoid glycerin pools and it doesn’t bleed for a messy CP soap!

Beautiful

It’s great if anything you need a gray for or use more for black but I love the shimmer
