Description

  • Use rate in cold & hot process soaps: 3 teaspoons per pound of oils.
  • Use rate in melt & pour soaps: .5 teaspoons per pound of oils.

This can be used as an alternative to Titanium Dioxide. The samples shown in our pictures are typical use rates of 1 tsp. per pound which is not enough to significantly whiten soap.

To use as an alternative to titanium dioxide, Winter White mica should be used at 3 tsp. per pound of oils. This will result in a much brighter white and there is no speckling as titanium dioxide can sometimes do.

If using in bath bombs, add polysorbate 80 at half your oils. For example, if your oil = 3 teaspoons, use polysorbate at 1.5 teaspoons. This will help prevent a color ring around the tub.

Titanium dioxide (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size) is on the Proposition 65 list because it can cause cancer. Exposure to titanium dioxide may increase the risk of cancer. Once incorporated into a liquid or solid base it is no longer airborne and falls off the Prop 65 list. More Info.

So very pleased

I am so happy I ordered this in a 4 oz. jar! I trusted the reviews I read here online and now I can achieve a true white with no spots or dry areas that sometimes Titanium Dioxide can produce if used in too high an amount. Winter White Mica will not replace TD in all my recipes!!

Winterland!

I used the last of this mica yesterday and it made nice swirls in my soap, I also used it for embeds in my melt and pour. Really pretty in M&P

gives an amazing white

This mica will be my go to for white now instead of TD. It is just gorgeous and the white is so pure. It does take a lot so go ahead and get the large bag!

I need to get more of this

Its hard to choose which is better, TD or this mica. Since TD tends to accelerate a bit, I think I might have to point to this.
