Description

  • Use rate in cold & hot process soaps: 1-2 teaspoons per pound of oils.

~ More or less can be added to achieve your desired color. These usage rates are recommended for no colored lather. ~

Brick Dust is one of the stars of the show in our True Red Trio. Adding this great mica to Queen of Hearts Mica and our Orange-Red Neon makes a stunning and beautiful true red in soaps!

Since this is a darker red, it can be used at 1 tsp. per pound of oils in cold process soap with great results! As a general rule, darker colors are great at 1 tsp. per pound and lighter colors can be used at 2 tsp. per pound of oils for the most vibrant results.

If using in bath bombs, add polysorbate 80 at half your oils. For example, if your oil = 3 teaspoons, use polysorbate at 1.5 teaspoons. This will help prevent a color ring around the tub.

INCI Mica (CI 77019), iron oxide (CI 77491)

Interesting mica

This is an unusual red, it's a muted redish brown and has a place all it's own in the red group. If you're going for traditional red, this isn't it. It's great for an earthy look/color if that makes sense. I do like it A LOT but know that you're not going to get the bright or traditional red from this mica.

Added a bit of kick to my fall soap

I used this along with other "fall" colored micas to do a drop swirl design to represent falling leaves against a blue sky. Brick Red was perfect for this role. It complemented the other colors well.

versatile red

I think this is a great colour. Use less for a more pinky tone, more for a red brick colour, or on soap tops with oil for a mica swirl looks great.

Great Earth Tone Red

This was used to make melt and pour leaves for a fall soap. They turned out great!
