Description

  • Use rate in cold & hot process soaps: 1 teaspoon per pound of oils.
  • Use rate in melt & pour soaps: .5 teaspoons per pound of base.

~ More or less can be added to achieve your desired color. These usage rates are recommended for no colored lather. ~

Black Pearl is our preferred black mica for clear melt and pour. Due to it's silver sheen, it can make MP really pop! For a darker, truer black in cold process soaps try Activated Charcoal or Nocturnal Mica. Activated charcoal makes a truer black than any mica we have tried, and is out go-to for achieving true black in cold process soap that does not bleed or migrate.

Black Iron Oxide is also a great choice for black in CP. Only a little needs to be used. The disadvantage to black oxide is that it can bleed in the shower, and no one wants black stuff running down their shower walls!

If using in bath bombs, add polysorbate at half your oils. For example, if your oil = 3 teaspoons, use polysorbate at 1.5 teaspoons. This will help prevent a color ring around the tub.

Nice balance

Pretty black without being too harsh of a black!

Best Black!

I only use this black mica exclusively. I used to use black oxide but would get staining. No staining with this!

Makes a beautiful top

I like to use this for a light dusting on the top of my soaps and it doesn’t disappoint!

Swirled this with purple vibrance and blackberry and loved the results! Very shimmery and not just your basic black.

Really nice color

This color turns out great in cp soap, even if you use less. This is a new color for me, so I was testing. It came out a nice steely grayish black. This is approximately 1 tsp per pound of oil.
