Black Pearl mica is a very rich, deep, and dark black color for use in soaps. Many dark micas will tend to fade once added to cold process, but this little beauty maintains its color and won't fade. Black Pearl is a great replacement for activated charcoal to achieve a very dark color in soaps.
CP: Mix 1 part color with 1 part oil then add to soap.
MP: Mix mica in 91% rubbing alcohol then add to soap base.
HP: Add micas toward the end of the cook to retain the most color.
Avoid green and yellow oils. The whiter the base, the brighter the color! Gelling soap makes colors pop. Read our FAQ section for more info on using colors.
Bath Bombs (if safe for use): Use polysorbate 80 when using mica to color bath bombs. This will help disperse the color and prevent a powder ring around the tub.
I’ve had problems with activated charcoal giving me black bubbles when I lather and some black streaks when cut. The Black Pearl Mica is a great black with none of the problems. I did a gorgeous in the pot swirl and made soap that looked like marble. Love it!
This Mica works great for painting Bath Bombs!
Nurture Soap NEVER disappoints!! Will continue to use them!
Absolutely love this color, it did not take much to color 42 oz, and it’s nearly spot on to the sample picture. Highly satisfied, next time I order this one I’m definitely ordering more than 1 oz.
Nice color and versitile for products but you need to mix this with oxide or charcoal to get a true black or you will end up using a lot. Worked great in cold process soap and bath bombs.
