Discontinued Colors

As of 7/29/2016 we are no longer offering replacements for these colors.

Recently we made the decision to discontinue some colors. We had to discontinue business with one of our previous suppliers because of what we considered unethical conduct. The first thing we always ask for is MSDS. If anything questionable is present, we ask very pointed questions.

We were sent a series of MSDS with animal testing results included. This supplier proudly declares they do not test on animals, which is one of the reasons we bought from them. Not only that, these particular colors were touted as cosmetic grade, but the coloring agent in them is considered very hazardous and certainly not cosmetic grade (copper chloride).

Please note that we never purchased colors with copper chloride in them, and never would! Copper chloride is used as a coloring agent in low quality glow powders, which we do not and never have offered for sale. We only offer one glow powder, and it's the good stuff made in the USA!

Later we were sent the exact same MSDS for the same products with the animal testing results and toxic ingredient removed!

This is a series of colors we've never purchased, but the fact that something like this happened at all was unacceptable. We discontinued this supplier's colors immediately and continue to purchase only the highest quality colors from companies that do not test on animals and that we trust implicitly.

The discontinued colors are:

  1. Apple Green
  2. Khaki Yellow
  3. Turquoise
  4. Teal
  5. Desert Sunset
  6. Hunter Green
  7. Carnation Pink
  8. Spring Green
  9. Moss Green
  10. Blue Moon

If you would like to be sent FREE replacement micas in the closest matching colors please send a picture of your unused micas on this list to help@nurturesoap.info or use the "ask a question" at the right hand bottom of our site. We will send free replacements - You just pay the lowest rate shipping. You will only be charged actual shipping costs. We know your money is valuable and Nurture Soap will do everything we can to take care of you!

UPDATE: We will only replace orders that we have records of sale. Free samples and micas obtained through co-ops and/or sample sets will not be replaced. If your order was placed before 2-15-2015 please provide a sales receipt and/or specific date of purchase.

A replacement for our Teal and Turquoise micas is our new Tropical Teal mica. A great replacement for Desert Sunset is our Mango Tango mica. For Apple Green, Lime Appeal is a great replacement. We matched other colors by spectrophotometry and did not have to discontinue them. However, some of the colors could not be replaced. They will no longer be available.

If you have any questions or concerns about this issue, please contact us. We do everything we can to ensure that we are selling only the best and ethically sourced products, and will continue to serve you in an honest, ethical, and transparent manner.

I am just reading about your micas that you are discontinuing. I own at least two of these colors. Is it too late to get replacements sent?

I am a beagle owner and lover. I found out about 6 years ago that a high percentage of animal testing is done on beagles in the lab setting because they are such sweet, docile dogs. Ever since then, I am very careful to buy products that are NOT tested on animals…..not always easy to do. Thank you Nurture soaps for being one of those companies!!

    Martina, that is correct.

So, my understanding is that you did not purchase the bad colors, you discontinued those colors listed because of the bad supplier. Right? I have 4 oz jar of Turquoise. Am I understanding correctly that that color is fine to use, it just will not be available anymore? Thank you.

Thank you! I have 3 of the colors on the list. Do I need to toss them? Do they contain copper chloride? Sorry, still a little confused…

What an honorable action. You are truly leaders in your field. I love your products, and am saddened that this happened to you (us)! I appreciate that you show your transparency by sharing the details of your situation with your customers. Many wouldn’t think of doing this, or replacing the products in question (awesome). This is true integrity. Thank you Nurture Soap!!

I fully support your decision, a question in integrity is a deal breaker for sure. I still have some of these colors, should I toss them?

Thank you for the info! I am so glad that you don’t use colorants that are tested on animals or contain dangerous chemicals because I love your shop and I don’t want to use those items either!
